Former Skil-Koga squad grows with men's program
Skil-Shimano’s management has confirmed that Project 1t4i will have a women’s team for the 2012 season. The team will race at UCI level, sharing resources and structure with the men’s squad. The 10-rider team will look to compete in the biggest races, while their male counterparts are also under consideration for a WorldTour license for 2012.
As well as keeping Regina Bruins, Amy Pieters, Esra Tromp, Suzanne de Goede, Anne de Wildt and Linda van Rijen, the team will bolster its ranks with Adrie Visser (HTC-Highroad), Monique van de Ree (AA-Drink) and Janneke Kanis (Nederland Bloeit). The squad has also offered a full time contract to Kelly Markus, who finished ninth in the women’s junior road race at the World Championships in Copenhagen last month.
"The Project 1t4i women’s team will proceed with the same supporting staff, vision and character as the men’s team. Sponsor Skil, who signed a two-year Olympic commitment with the women’s team last year, will remain connected to the team for another year," the team announced in a press release.
Skil-1t4i is the public name for the new squad until the spring when the new lead sponsor, which has already signed a three-year deal, will be unveiled.

De afgelopen jaren heb ik met veel plezier en succes bij HTC-Highroad gereden. Deze goed georganiseerde ploeg heeft me de afgelopen twee jaren een prachtig internationaal programma geboden, waarbij ik dus ook tevreden terugkijk op mijn eigen prestaties. Hoogtepunten waren onder andere mijn vijfde plaats in de Ronde van Vlaanderen 2010, tweede in de wb-wedstrijd Open Vargada Suede, het winnen van een etappe in de Thuringen Rundfahrt en dit jaar natuurlijk mijn etappezege en eindoverwinning in de 1e Energiewacht Tour en de mooie overwinning in Bochum.
Ik ben Bob Stapleton en de crew van HTC-Highroad enorm dankbaar voor de kansen en mogelijkheden die ze me de afgelopen twee seizoenen hebben geboden. Maar, ik heb gemerkt dat ik weer toe ben aan een nieuwe uitdaging!
Niemand hoeft zich ongerust te maken over mijn toekomst. Ook het komende seizoen zal ik voor een sterke formatie rijden!
Daarover zal in de komende twee weken meer naar buiten komen.
En verder heb ik deze week voor het eerst in vier jaar weer een baantraining afgewerkt. Dat voelde goed en smaakt naar meer, ook met het oog op de Spelen van 2012....

Leave HTC High Road!
The past two years I have had a great time with the great team HTC Highroad.
This well-organized team has given me the past two years a wonderful international program.
When I look back at my time with HTC-Highroad, I am pleased with my own performances.
Highlights includes my fifth place in the Tour of Flanders 2010, second in the World Cup race Open Vargada Suede, winning a stage in the Thuringen Rundfahrt and this year of course my stage win and overall victory in the Energiewacht Tour and the great win in Bochum.
I'm grateful to Bob Stapleton and the crew of HTC Highroad for the opportunities they have given me the last two seasons. But I have noticed that I am looking for a new challenge!
Nobody needs to worry about my future. The next season I will also in a strong team!
More information will come up in the next two weeks.
This week I have trained for the first time in four years on the track. That felt really good, aiming for the 2012 Olympics....

Na het NK wordt het eerste helft van het seizoen geanalyseerd. Is het goed gegaan of is het tegen gevallen, wat kan er worden verandert en waar moet ik nog aan werken. Het eerste helft van het seizoen begint in februari (Ronde van Qatar) en eindig in Ootmarsum (NK Weg).
Als ik terug kijk naar de afgelopen maanden dan kan ik weer beamen dat ik weer succesvoller ben dan het voorgaande jaar, toen ik al mocht ruiken aan de gele trui in Tour de L’Aude. Met negen podium plaatsen (Qatar, Tielt-Dwingen, Koln, Etappe Energiewacht Tour, Roeselare, Parel van de Veluwe, Trentino etc) winnares van de Energie wachttoer en een elfde plaats in de huidige UCI ranking mag ik tevreden terug kijken. In een ploeg als HTC Highroad is het verschrikkelijk moeilijk om goede uitslagen te rijden,omdat er zoveel goede rensters om je heen staan. Vooral in de massasprints waar Ina Yoko Teutenberg een van de beste van de wereld is en Judith Arnt die dat is in het gebergte. Toch weet ik zo nu en dan mijn kansen te pakken, wat best moeilijk is als er niet vanzelf sprekend een tactiek naar jouw kwaliteiten wordt afgesproken.
Na een vierde plaats op het NK in Ootmarsum begin ik met ambitie aan het tweede helft van het seizoen. De week voor het NK was ik koortsig plus een opkomende keelontsteking, hierdoor heb ik helaas het NK tijdrijden voorbij moeten laten gaan.. Dit jaar stond het NK tijdrijden meer dan andere jaren bij mijn favoriete wedstrijden van het seizoen, helaas.. Het NK weg voelde goed, mijn lichaam was beter dan de uiteindelijke behaalde vierde plaats. Het is lastig om samen met Ellen van Dijk e twee sterke blokken (AA Drink/Nederland Bloeit) volledig te controleren, maar ja Nikki Terpstra gewijsde vorig jaar het tegenovergestelde. Met die instelling ben ik dan ook gestart!
Ik zal aankomende vrijdag niet in de Giro d’Italia starten, mijn eerste wedstrijd zal de Thuringen Rundt fahrt zijn met de daarop volgende wereldbeker Vargarda in Zweden, waar ik vorig jaar nog tweede eindigde achter Kirsten Wildt.

HTC-Highroad's Adrie Visser achieved overall victory in the EnergieWacht Tour in her home country of Holland on Sunday. Visser moved into the overall lead after winning stage three of the four-day race on Saturday, and then finished safely in the main pack on the last stage.
"This is my first stage race victory as a pro and to get it in Holland makes it even more special," a delighted Visser said.
"Today [Sunday] wasn't about winning the stage, the important thing was about me taking the leader's jersey all the way to the final finish line."
"I have to give a big thank you to everybody on the team for looking after me so well."
"[HTC-Highroad team-mates] Charlotte Becker, Emilia [Fahlin] and Evelyn [Stevens] all worked really hard for me during the stage, and Ina [Teutenberg] found me in the bunch and guided me through the last kilometer, which was really difficult and technical, to make sure I was ok."
Visser said the battle to get the stage win and the lead on Saturday had
helped her and her team-mates raise their game even higher on Sunday.
"We did very well yesterday when we didn't have the perfect cards to play, and we had already shown our strength."
"Having fought so hard made us all feel extra motivated for today, and I have to say the race went perfectly. It's certainly something to celebrate!"

The 100km course consisted of one large loop on flat terrain through small villages around Koln. I and Judith Arndt made attacks in the latter part of the race but it was the counter by Stevens that stayed away.
Evelyn Stevens of HTC-Highroad took the win in Germany, the traditional opening of the German Spring classics. I won the bunch sprint for second place.

Last weekend I finished second in Tielt-Winge. After 122 km Emma Johanson was the strongest. In the last kilometres the small peloton came together and it became a bunch sprint lightly uphill.Every lap was a break away or attacks on the hill, but always the peloton came together.
Next week I will start in Oostduinkerke en Deerlijk.

The season started well for our team, we won almost everything in Qatar. Ellen van Dijk won a stage and the yellow jersey, Charlotte Becker became second and me fourth in the overall standings. Ellen dedicated here win to Carla Swart.
The tour of Qatar was great team work. First day perfect lead out for Cloe Hoskin. Second day a breakaway from seven girls with Ellen, Charlotte and me. After a good lead out I still became nicely third. The third day was again a great team effort, by keeping the bunch togehter, to win the race and team overall classement! HTC Highroad rocks!

31 January I fly to Qatar, this will be my first race of 2011.
I look forward to Qatar, I can see where I am standing after a good winter preparation. I did two training camps with the team, what was ideal to avoid the Dutch weather. After Qatar I will go back to Spain, because the winter in Holland isn’t over yet.
